About Custom Covers
I grew up in Waterbury, Vermont and attended Harwood Union High School in Duxbury. After graduation I worked as a flight attendant for five years for Air North, a small private airline in Burlington. In 1984 I bought a farmhouse with a barn in Middlesex. It was during this time that I decided to quit my job as a flight attendant and began to do upholstery fulltime. I began my now, 30 year business, when I converted the barn into a shop area. From there I changed locations a few times. From the barn I relocated to Evergreens for a couple of years, then to the old Thurston Building on route 100 and then ventured to the lower village of Stowe.
In 2010 I finally settled into the historic Grist Mill Building in Waterbury. In my shop I carry a large line of fabrics, trims, and wallpapers. I can work with anyone, any budget or any project, whether it be a project for an entire room or just a few toss pillow covers. You are more than welcome to bring your own fabric, no extra cost.
I have worked with some of the top architects, builders and designers around. One summer in 1986, I packed all of my sewing gear and went to Maine. I custom designed all of the furniture in all the rooms at York Harbor Inn Bed and Breakfast. I have also been featured in Architectural Digest Magazine of Design American Country Houses in June 2009.
Currently I live with my husband in Duxbury and a high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals. I like doing things the old fashion way. I don’t believe in cutting corners because my name is that piece. Please give me a call to talk about your next project.
